Technical schools

Technical schools are programs where you go to earn certification or associate degrees that are necessary to enter technical fields. Typically, students also don’t spend time learning “core curriculum” knowledge or earning general education credits. Instead, they start off learning applied knowledge and skills relevant to their fields. Technical schools also tend to take less than two years and cost less than a traditional four-year college. Many students who go to technical schools may still need to pursue an apprenticeship or training program after certification in order to go into their field, but this is dependent on the program and field. 

Trade schools

Trade schools are schools for training students on being able to perform a specific job in labor-focused industries such as: auto mechanics, medical assistants, etc. Trade schools typically focus on more hands-on training which allows students to experience the industry hands-on in a guided environment. Students often leave trade schools with certifications for specialized trade training that indicates the skills, experience, and examination-tested knowledge required to be able to directly enter the industry’s workforce.

Both technical and trade schools can be great options for job training and finding success depending on the objective and direction of your career choice.
